Take a journey through time in a city full of history, legends and cultural fusion, where every little corner puts on its romantic face for you to enjoy the warmth of autumn in Cordoba.

Any time of the year is good for enjoying a getaway with your partner in Cordoba, but the autumn is very special because it is peaceful and the temperature is very pleasant. You start your journey in time by crossing the Roman Bridge under which the waters of the Guadalquivir River flow through 16 arches.

The Bridge Gate opens onto the historic city centre where the palaces and historic buildings will help you to imagine the scenes that were lived there intimes gone by.

The co-existence of three cultures: The Romans, the Moors and the Jews were able to create a city of great beauty, in which every stone, tower and courtyard is a blend of the different styles producing truly spectacular results.

The orange trees give shade and a unique aroma to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, which gives access to this palace. Surrounded by a large fortress, between the walls and towers it hides rooms where light produces amazing effects through the star-shaped skylights.

Impressive patios with exotic plants and flowers, leafy trees and pools, invite you to enjoy a pleasant, romantic stroll through the gardens, where the relaxing sound of water bubbling in the fountains will be the only background noise.

On leaving the Alcázar, you have the choice of riding through the city in a horse-drawn carriage, which your partner will surely enjoy.

A visit to Cordoba must always include its principal main monument, the Great Mosque. On the outside, the façade hints at the different architectural styles. A small introduction to what you will find inside.

There are doors open on each side inviting you to discover the interior. Come and discover its secrets starting with the Patio de los Naranjos. In the centre of the patio flanked by a centenary olive tree you'll find the Fuente del Olivo, which since time immemorial has been attributed with miraculous powers for love.

The popular saying is proof of this: ”Mother dear, take me to drink at the Fountain of the Olive Tree, perhaps I'll meet my love there, because I'm dying of thirst".

The cathedral tower rises among the orange trees in the square, making it a point of reference for the Mosque from any point in the city.

On entering the Mosque, the soft light and the colour of its numerous arches will leave you speechless. The different buildings, cultures and styles from each era have left their mark in stone, and you will enjoy a feeling of astonishment with each step you take.

The contrast between the hundreds of Moorish arches and your encounter with the tall, bright Baroque and Renaissance style transept will really surprise you. You'll discover a monument which is unique in the world in the best of company.

Over the centuries, those who have created and preserved this impressive monument have left their signature and heritage in every stone, allowing us to continue enjoying their great work today.

Right next to the Mosque, the old Jewish Quarter is one of the places with most history and charm in the city of Cordoba. The narrow streets lead to squares and little and corners which reflect its culture and history.

You'll find lots of bars and restaurants serving traditional Cordoba cuisine and where you can try some of the delicious typical dishes like Cordoba style Salmorejo (thick gazpacho made with bread) anchovies, oxtail and rolls of Serrano ham.

Also in Taberna No. 10, you can enjoy a nice romantic lunch or dinner with views over the old Jewish quarter from the rooftop terrace. A charming place which is part of the Cordoba Rooftop.

Throughout the historic town centre you'll find small shops selling typical handicrafts where you can purchase unique, handmade articles made of leather, silver, gold and pottery with designs that are modern but with a strong influence of the Caliphate.

As you cross the narrow streets you'll see signs pointing to the Mudéjar Chapel of San Bartolomé, El Zoco where there are a number of the city's craft workshops and carry on to the Synagogue and other interesting sites.

The round arches give way to the characteristic Cordoba patios, full of pots of colourful geraniums.

As you make your way through the old Jewish Quarter, apart from visiting the main monuments we also recommend you to visit the Casa Andalusí. A very special place combining the flavour of Andalusia with an Oriental style and atmosphere which will take you back to past times.

Don't miss the chance to enjoy an authentic mint tea sitting in a pretty Cordoba-style patio, together with delicious orange blossom water flavoured sweets.

One of the prettiest streets in the Jewish Quarter is the Calle de las Flores. The white walls together with the arches decorated with pots of geraniums are so colourful and have such a special aroma… this will probably be one of the most romantic walks you have ever taken.

The balconies are so close together that the people can almost shake hands and light enters very softly, always providing an intimate, cosy atmosphere.

The patios open at the sides of the street so we can also enjoy Flamenco shows under the Moorish horseshoe arches.

The light at sunset in the autumn bathes the Roman Bridge and the Calahorra Tower in gold, leaving its beautiful mark on the historic city centre and the extraordinary monuments in the background.

We are certain that the city of Cordoba will leave its mark on you and you'll be thinking of coming back to enjoy the good times you spent here.
